A landmark in the desalination sector

The design, construction, and subsequent operation and maintenance over a 10 year period

Ras Abu Fontas 3 will have a capacity of 164,000 m3 per day. The end client for the water will be the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA). The plant will supply a population of 1 million people.

The construction of the plant is a true landmark in the desalination sector, as it is the first time reverse osmosis technology will be used on a large scale in this country, which only used evaporation technology to desalinate water to date.

technology and innovation

ULTRADAF®

El ULTRADAF® is a water pre-treatment system based on flotation.

ACCIONA has developed ULTRADAF®, which has better hydraulic conditions compared to what currently exists, and an injection system based on installing a set of optimised nozzles, enabling operation at high speeds and with high performance in terms of eliminating polluting substances. ULTRADAF® is used for pre-treatment in several desalination plants, including at Ras Abu Fontas.
