BIOMASS ENERGY
ACCIONA creates electric biomass solutions across the entire value chain of this renewable technology, including the design, construction and operation of major biomass plants.
In Southern Europe, the company became a pioneer in this type of energy when, in 2002, it commissioned the Sangüesa biomass plant (Navarre, Spain) which, with 30.2 MW of power, is a benchmark in the renewable energies sector today. The experience gained by the company since its very first steps in biomass development has strengthened its leadership, especially in raw material supply logistics.
Our three biomass plants generate some 400 GWh per year, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 118,000 homes, and prevent the emission of around 384,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere from coal-fired plants.
Biomass energy helps us design a better planet by developing rural areas, structuring land, fighting against forest fires and establishing itself as a carbon neutral technology – its CO2 emissions have a neutral balance as it is equivalent to the CO2 absorbed by the plants used as raw materials during their life.

THE IMPORTANCE OF RENEWABLE ENERGIES
Renewable energies are clean, inexhaustible and competitive sources of energy. The development and adoption of clean energy is essential to limit the worst effects of the climate emergency and to build a sustainable energy system.
