One of the largest infrastructure projects in the country. It is part of an energy project with a 1,100MW hydroelectric plant in British Columbia for BC Hydro, the electrical company in the province.
The project includes the construction of an earth dam measuring 1,050 m long and 60 m high, two diversion tunnels measuring 10.80 m in diameter and with a length of between 700 and 800 m, in addition to a concrete foundation for the power generation station and spillways.
The dam at the Site C reservoir guarantees the supply of clean, renewable energy for over 100 years. Compared with any other source of energy, its hydroelectric plant will have the lowest greenhouse gas emissions in terms of gigawatt/hours.
